ISO-9001 and Lexcel quality marks triumph

It’ been a busy start to 2021 for Bowling & Co, and by the end of January 2021, the Firm had achieved two further Quality Marks within 6 weeks of each other – ISO-9001 and Lexcel.

LawNet ISO 9001:2015 Quality Standard

In mid-December 2020 we were audited against the internationally renowned ISO-9001 quality mark standard, which is a requirement of our membership of LawNet (a mutual and member-owned organisation of approximately 72 law firms ranging in size from six to 50+ partners). This accreditation comprises the ISO standard interpreted for the law firm environment by LawNet and takes account of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Standards and Regulations and other relevant quality standards. We have held this quality mark since 2017, so it’s our 4th year in a row!

Law Society’s Lexcel Quality Mark

At the very end of January 2021, we were also engaged in our annual Lexcel audit which is the Law Society’s legal practice quality mark.

Although similar to ISO-9001 in its approach to processes, Lexcel has a clear focus on client care, compliance and practice management, all of which are core areas that Bowling & Co works very hard to achieve when delivering legal services to our clients.

The good news is that 2021 marks the 11th straight year in a row that Bowling & Co have retained the Lexcel quality mark which is a great achievement for the Firm, its staff and clients alike.

Remote audits

Due to the unusual situation of Covid-19 restrictions, both our recent annual audits as above, were conducted remotely by an independent assessor. Both remote audits (mostly using Zoom), involved careful logistical planning for staff interviews and a review of the Firm’s documentation and procedures using a secure vault platform in the cloud. However, both were carried out efficiently and without any problems.

Everyone in the firm can be proud of our double achievement in retaining both ISO-9001 and Lexcel in these challenging times. It clearly demonstrates that Bowling & Co has established procedures which are processed consistently across the Firm, helping us to deliver managed quality services to our clients”, commented David Downham, Practice Director.
