Lasting Powers of Attorney & the Court of Protection
A Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal document which enables the appointment of one or more persons to manage your financial affairs and/or personal welfare. These appointed attorneys can act on your behalf from the moment the document is registered or merely in the event that you begin to lose your mental capacity.
The Lasting Power of Attorney is an extremely useful document which can prepare for the management and protection of your financial and/or personal welfare in the future, should you become incapable of making such decisions.
In the event that a person has already lost the capacity to make their
own decisions it may well be necessary for someone to be appointed to
act on their behalf. A Deputy is a person who, upon application to the
Court of Protection and with their approval, is empowered to act on an
incapacitated persons behalf in relation to their financial affairs and/or
personal welfare.
Upon appointment the Deputy under the Courts specifications and guidance,
can ensure that a persons affairs are properly managed for their benefit.
